誰もが踊れる超参加型の八木節おどり！日本一の音頭を競い合う競演大会も必見

毎年8月の第1金曜日から3日間にわたり開催される群馬県内最大規模の夏の祭典です。市内に設置される櫓（やぐら）の周りでは「八木節おどり」を開催。一般客も飛び入りで列に加わって踊る超参加型で、踊りの輪が何重にも広がる様は圧巻です。八木節の音頭日本一を目指して自慢の喉で競う「全日本八木節競演大会」や、各チームが多彩なダンスで魅せる「ダンス八木節」などの催しを楽しめます。※2022年度は一部開催となります。

歴史ある「桐生祇園祭」と郷土芸能「八木節」を中心とした伝統あるまつり。鉾の曳き違いは大変見ごたえがあり、多くの観客を魅了します。

The grandest summer festival of Gunma Prefecture, held every year from the first Friday of August for three days.
The Yagibushi dance is held around a tower set up in the city. It is a participatory event where the general public can join in at any time, and the sight of the growing rings of dancers is overwhelming. Events such as the All Japan Yagibushi Performance Tournament, where participants show off their singing skills, aiming to be No. 1 in Japan, and the Dance Yagibushi event, where dance teams give various kinds of performances, can be enjoyed here. *Only some of the events will be held in 2022.

A traditional festival centering on the historical Kiryu Gion Festival and the local performing art of the Yagibushi dance. The event where floats are pulled across each other is well worth seeing and captivates many visitors.
