平家落人（おちうど）の悲哀を歌った「むぎや節」情緒ある街並みで五箇山民謡を堪能！


城端別院善徳寺の寺内町として栄え、「越中の小京都」と称される城端地区を舞台に、五箇山民謡の歌と踊りを披露する民謡祭です。山深い五箇山地方は「民謡の宝庫」。代表的な民謡「むぎや節」は壇ノ浦の戦いから逃れた平家の落人が発祥といわれ、男性が紋付き袴、白たすきで腰に杣刀（そまがたな）を差し、すげ笠を回転させてキビキビと踊ります。善徳寺境内に設けられた会場とじょうはな座では「むぎや踊り競演会」が行われ、各団体の歌と踊りが楽しめます。

情緒ある街並みを背景に行われる「街並み踊り」や、最終日の夜に参加者全員で踊る「総踊り」など、さまざまな催しがあります。

Enjoy Gokayama minyo songs in an atmospheric townscape!

A minyo festival with Gokayama minyo songs and dances set in the Johana district, which prospered as a temple town where Johana Betsuin Zentoku Temple is located, and was known as the “Little Kyoto of Etchu” (the old provincial name of Toyama). The mountainous Gokayama region is a “treasury of minyo”. The representative “Mugiyabushi” minyo is said to have originated with a warrior of the Taira Clan who fled the Battle of Dan-no-Ura, and is performed by a man who wears a family crest-bearing kimono with a hakama skirt, a white shoulder sash, and a sword on his hip as he dances briskly while rotating a sedge hat. Enjoy the songs and dances by various groups at the “Mugiya Dance Competition”, held at the hall on the grounds of Zentoku Temple and the Johana-za theater.

There are various programs to enjoy, including the dancing event held with an atmospheric townscape in the background and the event on the final night, where all the participants dance together.
