長崎港一帯が熱気に包まれる！　360年以上続く勇壮なボートレース

中国伝来のペーロン船によるレースが長崎港で初めて行われたのは1655年のこと。港内で難破した唐船を弔うため在来の唐人たちが始めたといわれています。大会で最も盛り上がるのは、各地の選抜チームによる決勝戦。漕手26人が長さ約14ｍの船に乗り込み、往復1150mを競漕します。太鼓・ドラの音が響く海上を、白波を立てて船が疾走。白熱したレース展開と各チームの応援合戦が見ものです。

レースの合間には「体験ペーロン」が行われ、乗組員全員でリズムをとって漕ぐ楽しさが味わえます。

A valiant boat race that has been held for over 360 years."

The first traditional Chinese Peiron boat race at Nagasaki Port was held in 1655. It is said to have started when a group of Chinese people living here held a ceremony for a Chinese ship that was wrecked at the port. The highlight of the event is the final race between selected teams from various areas. 26 rowers get on the roughly 14-meter-long boats and race over a distance of 1,150 meters. The boats stir up white waves to the beat of drums and gongs over the water. The heated races and the fervor of their fans are truly a sight to see.

All participants can enjoy rowing to the rhythm of the boats in between the Peiron races.
