頬被りをした着物姿で優雅に踊る！かがり火を囲んだ、情緒豊かな盆踊り

秋田県三大盆踊りの一つに数えられる、鹿角市十和田毛馬内の伝統行事。路上に焚いたかがり火を囲み、常に内側を向いて優雅に踊る輪踊りで、大太鼓と笛の囃子で踊る「大の坂」と、唄のみで踊る無伴奏の「甚句」で構成されています。男性は紋付などの着物に水色のケダシ、女性は留袖などにとき色のケダシを巻き、ともに手ぬぐいで頬被りをして踊る様はとても情緒豊か。観光客も踊りに参加することができ、練習したい方には講習会も開催しています。

打ち手と持ち手の2人がかりで叩く大太鼓。馬の皮ならではの高く澄んだ音が、町中に鳴り響いで盆踊りの始まりを告げます。

A traditional ceremony of Towada Kemanai, Kazuno City, and one of the three Great Bon Dance Festivals of Akita Prefecture. It consists of elegant dances to the sounds of huge taiko drums and flutes around a bonfire in a circle facing the center, and dances to the sounds of unaccompanied singing. The men in clothes such as family crest-bearing kimonos and aqua blue inner wear dancing alongside the women in formal kimonos with pink inner wear using hand towels as mask create an exotic atmosphere. Tourists can also join in on the dancing and lessons are available for those who want to practice. The huge taiko drums are played by one person and held by another. The high-pitched sounds that can only be produced with horse skin can be heard throughout the town and mark the commencement of the Bon dancing.
