「やっさ、やっさ」と掛け声を上げながら約7,000人が囃子に合わせて練り歩く！
毎年40数万人もの人出で賑わう、中国地方を代表する夏祭り。1日目・2日目の17時頃からは、約7,000人の踊り手が「やっさ、やっさ」と掛け声をあげ、囃子のリズムに合わせて三原駅前周辺を練り歩く「やっさ踊り」が行われます。1567年に戦国時代の智将・小早川隆景が海城を完成させたことを祝い、老若男女を問わず踊ったことが始まりとされる歴史ある踊りです。また、3日目の20時頃からは糸崎沖で花火が打ち上げられます。
三味線・鉦・太鼓・笛・四つ竹など賑やかな囃子と歌声に合わせて踊る「やっさ踊り」は、広島県の代表的民謡踊りになりつつあります。

Roughly 7,000 people march to music being played as they shout “Yassa, Yassa!”
A summer festival representative of the Chugoku Region gathering over four hundred thousand people each year. The Yassa Festival, where roughly 7,000 dancers shout “Yassa, yassa” as they parade around Mihara Station to the rhythm of the music, starts at around 5 p.m. on the first and second days of the festivities. It is a historic dance that started with both men and women, young and old, dancing in celebration of the floating castle completed by the resourceful general Takakage Kobayakawa in 1567 during the Warring States period. Fireworks will also be shot off at the Itozaki coast from around 8 p.m. on the third day.
The Yassa Dance, which is accompanied by lively music played with instruments such as shamisens, handbells, taiko drums, flutes, and Japanese castanets, as well as singing, is steadily becoming a folk dance that is representative of Hiroshima Prefecture.
