高さ約10mもの絢爛豪華な山鉾が祇園囃子の音色とともに勇ましく巡行！

夏の厄除けとして約300年前に始まった、日田市の伝統行事。高さ約10mにものぼる絢爛豪華な山鉾が、隈・竹田地区、豆田地区の各町内を祇園囃子の音色とともに巡行します。夜には提灯を飾り付けた優雅な晩山の巡行が行われ、幻想的な光景を堪能できます。また、祭りの2日前には「日田祇園山鉾集団顔見世」が行われ、日田市内にある山鉾全9基がJR日田駅前に勢ぞろい。提灯の幻想的な灯りと祇園囃子の音色に包まれ、その年の山鉾の出来栄えを披露します。
A traditional ceremony of Hita City for good luck in the summer, which started about 300 years ago. Extravagant floats that stand about ten meters-tall proceed to the sound of Gion festival music through various towns in the Kuma/Takeda and Mameda districts. A procession of elegant floats decorated with lanterns begins when night falls and creates a surreal atmosphere for you to enjoy. Nine Hita Gion floats from within Hita City will also be on display in front of JR Hita City two days before the festival. See the floats of the year as you are surrounded by the surreal shining of the lanterns and the sound of Gion festival music.
