愛知県・朝倉の人々を苦しめた獅子（猪）を梯子で退治した伝説にちなんで行われる、翌年の大豊作を祝う祭り。37段の梯子と高さ9mのやぐらの上で、雄獅子の面をかぶった2人1組の獅子が、囃子に合わせて舞を披露します。風に揺れる梯子の上で繰り広げられるアクロバティックな演舞は、見る者をハラハラさせて息をつく間も与えません。「運勢の舞」「櫓上の舞」「感謝の舞」の三部構成で、約30分間にわたり獅子の妙技に魅了されます。

A festival in prayer for an abundant harvest the following year held in tribute to the legend, where a lion (boar) that caused suffering to the people of Asakura in Aichi Prefecture was exterminated with a ladder. The lion, represented by two performers wearing a male lion mask, dances to music on a 37-step ladder and 9-meter-tall tower. This acrobatic performance, given on a ladder that sways in the wind, leaves the audience breathless. Be amazed at this three-part show that lasts about 30 minutes, which consists of the “dance of fortune”, “dance on the tower”, and “dance of gratitude”.

ウス（脚役）がカブ（獅子頭役）を肩車して梯子を登ります。ウスが片手・片足になってふもとを振り返る様子は必見です。

The performer who plays the head of the lion gets on the shoulders of the performer who does the legs as they climb the ladder. The performer who does the legs getting on one hand and one foot while looking down at the base of the ladder is a must-see.
