竜頭・竜尾を飾った舟が、港内で競漕！沖縄県内で最大規模のハーリー行事

県内各地域で行われるハーリー行事のなかでも最大規模。舳先に竜頭を飾る特別な舟に、32人もの漕ぎ手が乗り込んで競漕する様は圧巻です。5月3日は、市内中学生の汗と涙のドラマ「学校対抗戦」、4日には見物客が舟に触れられる「一般体験乗船」（無料）を開催。5日は迫力満点「一般競漕」の後、古式ハーリーに則った衣装で歌いながら港内を回遊する儀式「御願バーリー」と、その年の覇者を決める「本バーリー」が行われます。

最終日には、迫力満点「一般競漕」を開催。青年会・企業団体・女性・米軍などの多彩なグループが名誉をかけて対決します。

This is the largest of all Hari events held throughout Okinawa. The sight of 32 rowers racing, each in special boats with dragon heads on their bows, is overwhelming. On the 3rd of May are matches of sweat and tears between junior high schools in the city, and the 4th is when spectators can board the boats for free. After the exciting conventional race on the 5th are a ceremony where the boaters in traditional Hari racing costumes offer prayers around the harbor while singing, and the main Hari event that determines who the champions will be that year.

On the final day is the exciting conventional race.
Various groups including youth groups, business associations, women’s groups, and American military groups compete for honor.
