日本三古湯の一つに数えられる道後温泉に、春の始まりを告げる祭り。神事「湯祈祷」を皮切りに、国の重要文化財にも指定されている道後温泉本館などでさまざまな催し事が行われます。1グループ最大100名が商店街などで踊りを披露する「道後温泉おどり」や、厄除け行事として知られる「祝い餅まき」は3日間にわたり毎日開催。他にも華やかな「BONダンス（道後ソーラン）」、愛媛県伝統の伊予万歳も楽しめる「郷土芸能大会」など、観る者を飽きさせません。

最終日に行われる「女みこしかきくらべパレード」。法被姿の女性たちが、男勝りの勇ましさで神輿4体を巡行します。

A festival marking the beginning of spring at Dogo Onsen, which is one of Japan’s three ancient hot springs. Various events, starting with the Yukito ritual, are held in part at the Dogo Onsen Honkan, which has been designated Nationally Important Cultural Asset. Events such as the Dogo Onsen Dance, performed by up to 100 people per group, and the celebratory rice cake throwing event, a ritual for warding off bad luck, are held every day for three days. Other festivities that visitors are sure to enjoy include the extravagant Dogo Soran Bon dancing and a local performing art festival that features the Ehime prefectural Iyo Manzai dance.

The Kakikurabe parade of women who carry portable shrines on the final day. It is a procession of women in happi coats valiantly carrying four portable shrines as they give men a good run for their money.
