祭概要

袈裟衣姿の山伏と恐ろしい強力（ごうりき）が、高盛りの赤飯を強いる！
A mountain priest wearing a kasaya robe and a fearsome Goriki ogre order the ingestion of large amounts of festive red rice!

地元に残る口碑伝承によれば600年以上前から行われているとされる、発光路地域に伝わる正月行事。
人間界を訪れる神仏を、人々が心を込めたご馳走でもてなす儀式で、日光修験の影響を強く受けているのが特徴です。
立烏帽子と袈裟をまとい金剛杖を持った「山伏」と、恐ろしい面をかぶり責め棒を手にした「強力（ごうりき）」が登場。
新旧の祭り当番や来賓などに対して、高々と盛りつけた赤飯を強い、地域のしきたりや要望などを申し伝えます。

発光路の鎮守である妙見神社で、9時から執り行われる「神事」。その後、「強飯式」は発光路公民館で10時から行われます。

A traditional New Year’s event that is said to have been passed down in the Hokkoji area for over 600 years. This is a ceremony where people entertain Shinto and Buddhist deities who enter the human world with carefully prepared meals, and is characterized by how enormously it is influenced by the religious practices of Nikko. A mountain priest wearing an eboshi Shinto hat and kasaya robe while holding a pilgrim’s staff appears with a Goriki ogre wearing a fearsome mask and holding a beating stick. Guests and people in charge of new and former festivals are forced to ingest large amounts of festive red rice while being told about the customs and demands of the region.

A holy ritual held from 9:00 a.m. at Myoken Shrine, which is the protective shrine of Hokkoji. The forced eating of rice is then held at 10 a.m. at the Hokkoji Community Center.
