数々の古典芸能に魅せられるお旅所祭や、浄闇（じょうあん）で行われる神秘の儀礼に感嘆！

春日大社の摂社・若宮神社に、1136年から約900年間も受け継がれている古の祭礼です。
特に見逃せないのは12月17日で、時代行列「お渡り式（12時）」がお旅所に着くと「お旅所祭（14時半頃）」を斎行。
社伝神楽・田楽・猿楽・舞楽などの日本を代表する古典芸能が、22時半頃まで絶え間なく奉納されます。
足元も見えない暗闇のなか、「ヲ―」の声を発しながら若宮様をお旅所へおうつしになる「遷幸の儀（0時）」、本殿へお還しになる「還幸の儀（23時）」も神秘的です。
平安時代からの時代装束をまとった約1,000名が都大路を練り歩く「お渡り式」。関西でも有数の規模を誇る時代行列です。

A festival passed down for about 900 years since the year 1136 at Kasuga Shrine’s Wakamiya auxiliary shrine. December 17 is a particularly special day where an otabisho resting site festival is held at 2:30 p.m. after the historic “Owatarishiki” procession (12:00 p.m.) arrives at the otabisho resting site. Representative classical performing arts of Japan such as Shaden Kagura, Dengaku, Sarugaku, and Bugaku are offered without interruption until around 10:30 p.m. Also mystical is the ceremony where the Wakamiyasama makes a procession to the otabisho resting site to the sound of “Oooh” in darkness that is so thick that you cannot even see your own feet during the Senko-no-gi ritual (12:00 a.m.), and returns to the main shrine during the “Kanko-no-gi” (11:00 p.m.).
The "Owatarishiki" procession, where about 1,000 people dressed in Heian Period costumes walk down the main street. It is one of the grandest historic processions in Kansai.
