龍蛇神様をはじめ日本各地の神々が年に1度、出雲に集まり、語り合う！
Gods from all across Japan including the Dragon-snake god gather at Izumo once a year to talk!

神々が出雲に赴くため不在になる旧暦10月を全国的に「神無月」と呼びますが、神々が集う出雲では「神在月」と称します。出雲大社では、11月27日に稲佐の浜で御神火を焚いて神々をお迎え。翌日から「神在祭」が斎行され、その期間中は神々のご先導役・龍蛇神様の奉拝がなされ、神々の大会議「神議（かむはかり）」が行われる上宮（仮の宮）でも祭りがお仕えされます。12月1～4日には「縁結大祭」（事前申込制）も執り行われ、幸縁を望む人々で賑わいます。
神々の宿舎となる「十九社」は、神在祭期間中のみ扉が開かれ、多くの人々が参拝します。10時頃には祭りも行われます。"

The tenth month in the traditional Japanese calendar, when the gods leave their shrines to congregate at Izumo, is called “Kannazuki" (the month when there are no gods) all across Japan, but it is called “Kamiarizuki" (the month when the gods are present) in Izumo, where they are all gathered. Sacred flames are lit at Inasa beach on November 27 to greet the gods at Izumo-taisha Shrine. The Kamiari Festival is held on the following day, where the Dragon-snake god, which is the leader of the gods, is worshipped. It is also held at the main shrine (temporarily), where the grand meeting of the gods takes place. The grand “Enmusubi Taisai” matchmaking festival (advanced reservations required), which is crowded with worshippers who come in hopes of finding a good partner, is also held from December 1 to 4.The Shukusha, which serves as the lodgings for the gods, opens its doors only during the Kamiari Festival and attracts many people who come to worship. A festival is also held at around 10 a.m.
