日本神話に登場する神々や大蛇がダイナミックに舞う、秋の風物詩
An autumn tradition where gods and dragons appearing in Japanese mythology perform dramatic dances

　石見地区のさまざまな神社では、秋祭りの前夜などに夜を徹して神楽が演じられます。たとえば「大蛇」という演目なら、舞台装置のように大規模な蛇の衣装や、そのダイナミックな動きに目を見張ることでしょう。神楽囃子のリズムに乗り、観客と舞手が一緒に熱狂するうちに、いつしか神話の世界へと誘われていきます。11月19日には石央文化ホールで「日本石見神楽大会」を開催。島根県内外から人気の神楽団体が集い、石見神楽などをじっくり堪能できます。
　恵比須」「大蛇」をはじめ、30種類を超える演目数を誇る石見神楽。社中（団体）ごとの創作神楽も見どころの一つです。

Kagura music is played all night at various shrines in the Iwami District on nights such as those before autumn festivals. One performance entitled "Dragon" involves a snake costume that is as huge as an entire stage setting and its dynamic movements are spectacular. The spectators who build enthusiasm together with the dancers to the rhythm of the kagura music end up being taken into a mythical world. The Japan Iwami Kagura Festival is held on November 19 at the Sekiou Culture Hall. Music such as Iwami kagura music can be enjoyed in this gathering of popular kagura music groups from both within and outside Shimane Prefecture.
Iwami kagura boasts over thirty types of performances including “Ebisu” and “Dragon”. Original kagura performances presented by each group are also one of the highlights.
