高さ10mを超える巨大な灯籠を担ぎ上げ、町で、海で、男衆が激しく乱舞！
Watch men powerfully lift huge lanterns exceeding ten meters in height on the streets and at sea!

能登半島では夏から秋にかけて、約200のキリコ祭りが各地で開催されます。担ぎ棒の付いた巨大な灯籠「キリコ」は地域によって多種多様で、高さはなんと最大約16m（寺家キリコ祭り）。100人もの海の男たちがキリコを担ぎ、威勢よく町を練り歩く「石崎奉燈祭」、海中で乱舞する「宝立七夕キリコまつり」、漆塗りのキリコが勢揃いする「輪島大祭」など見どころはそれぞれ異なりますが、魂をゆさぶるような熱狂的な祭りはいずれも見応え十分です。
「宝立七夕キリコまつり」では花火が打ち上がるなか、7基のキリコが一斉に夜の海に担ぎ出され、沖合の松明を目指します。

About two hundred kiriko lantern festivals are held throughout the Noto Peninsula from summer to autumn. There is a wide variety of these huge kiriko lanterns with shouldering poles depending on their regions, and they can reach up to sixteen meters in height (at the Jike Kiriko Festival).
There are different kinds of festivals such as the Issaki Hoto Festival, where a hundred seafaring men carry kiriko lanterns through the streets in high spirits; the Horyu Tanabata Kiriko Festival, where the lights dance wildly above the sea; and the Wajima Grand Festival, where you can see lacquered kiriko lanterns gathered together. Each of these soul-stirring and exuberant festivals is well worth seeing.During the Horyu Tanabata Kiriko Festival, seven kiriko lanterns are carried out of the night off to the torches on the coast amidst exploding fireworks.
