可憐な稚児などが優雅に舞う！500年以上も伝承される独自の民俗芸能

糸魚川・能生の舞楽は、糸魚川市内の2つの地域に伝わる500年以上の歴史をもつとされる舞楽の総称です。糸魚川の天津神社は4月10日・11日、能生の白山神社は4月24日の春季大祭に毎年奉納され、ともに大阪四天王寺の流れを汲みながらも、独自の演目を生むなど、この地域ならではの舞楽として完成されています。稚児が主役となる演目が多いことから「稚児舞楽」とも呼ばれて親しまれ、華やかな衣装に身を包んだ優雅な舞に、多くの見物客が毎年酔いしれています。

「陵王」は蘭陵王と呼ばれる舞であり、中国北斉の蘭陵王長恭（ちょうきょう）が戦の際、柔和な顔立ちを隠すため面をつけて出陣したという故事によると言われます。舞台の中央で夕日を招く所作は圧巻。

A unique folk performing art that has been passed down for over 500 years.

The court dances and music of Itoigawa and Nou are performances passed down in two regions of Itoigawa City for over 500 years. Itoigawa Amatsu Shrine is dedicated to the Spring Grand Festival each year on April 10 and 11, along with Nou Hakusan Shrine on April 24, through the performance of bugaku court dances. These evolved from dances passed down to this region from Osaka Shitennoji Temple. Many are performed by small children, so it is commonly called "The Children's Dances." Each year, these graceful dances and captivating costumes attract crowds of spectators.

Ryo’o, or Prince of Lanling, was a Chinese prince said to have worn a mask in battle to hide his beauty. In this inspiring dance, he calls forth the light of the setting sun.
