祭概要

山形県の花「紅花」があしらわれた笠をもつ約160団体の踊り手たちが、華やかな山車を先頭に舞い踊るパレードを連日18時から開催。
Roughly a hundred and sixty groups of dancers with hats adorned with the Yamagata safflower start dancing every day at 6 p.m. at a parade led by vibrant floats.

「ヤッショ、マカショ。」の勇ましい掛け声や太鼓の音色が、山形市のメインストリートに響きわたります。最後尾には、思い思いの踊りで参加できる「飛び入りコーナー」も用意。市役所前で18時から催される「輪踊り」では、先生から踊りを教わることもできます。3日間の人出が100万人を超える東北四大祭りの一つです。
The booming cries of "Yassho, Makasho" accompanied by the vigorous sound of the drums can be heard through the main street of Yamagata City. Spectators are welcome to join at the “walk-in area” near the tail of the parade to dance freely. Participants can enjoy learning to dance from dance teachers at the “Wa Odori”, which starts at 6 p.m. in front of City Hall. It is one of the four great festivals of Tohoku, and is held over a period of three days, attracting over a million people.

華麗な「女踊り」や勇壮な「男踊り」など、多彩な踊りに魅了されます。ダイナミックな笠回しや創作踊りにもご注目を。
Be amazed at the wide variety of dances including the gorgeous “Onna Odori” for women and the vigorous “Otoko Odori” for men. Also be sure not to miss events such as the dynamic hat rolling and creative dances.
