歌い継がれる、元祖・ハイヤ節！活気あふれる「総踊り」は港町ならでは
The original Haiyabushi songs that have been handed down for generations!
This lively “Souodori” dance, which everyone participates in, can only be experienced at this port town.

牛深を出港して北上する帆船に欠かせない「南風（ハエの風）」にちなみ、船乗りや女性たちの間で歌い継がれてきた「牛深ハイヤ節」。全国に広がるハイヤ系民謡のルーツであるこの伝統芸能に、踊りを加えた一大イベントが「牛深ハイヤ祭り」です。約3,000人の踊り手が牛深の中心街を練り歩く「ハイヤ総踊り」は、網投げなどの動きを模した踊りが印象的。「ハイヤ踊り講習会」で踊りを覚え、誰でも踊り手になれる「飛び入り丸」枠で総踊りに参加するのもおすすめです。

4月22日には牛深港で「漁船団海上パレード」も開催。大漁旗を掲げた須口かし網組合漁船団が、勇ましく海を渡ります。

“Ushibuka Haiyabushi” songs, which are named after “Haenokaze” and are essential to sailing ships that depart from Ushibuka and head north, have been passed down for generations by both sailors and women. The “Ushibuka Haiya Festival” is a great event where dancing has been added to this traditional form of performance, which is the root of Haiya folk music, known throughout the country. The mimicked casting of nets in the “Haiya Souodori” dance, where about three thousand dancers march through the Ushibuka downtown area, is quite impressive. A recommended activity is to go through the Haiya Dancing class and participate in the free-for-all dancing session.

A maritime parade of fishing boats is also held at Ushibuka Port on April 22. The fleet of fishing boats by the Suguchi Kashiami Union sails bravely across the ocean.
