絢爛豪華な4基の屋台・笠鉾を町中で曳き廻す、小鹿神社の例大祭。初日の夕刻には2基の屋台に芸座や花道が組まれ、全国的にも珍しい屋台歌舞伎を鑑賞できます。上演されるのは、この地に200年以上も受け継がれてきた「小鹿野歌舞伎」。小鹿野町に住む大人・子どもが役者となり、三味線を奏でる義太夫や裏方まで全てを地元衆が担う、地域に深く根付いた伝統芸能です。龍の彫り物など豪華な装飾が施された屋台で演じる様は、とても幻想的です。

シャンシャンと鳴る金棒や秩父囃子の音に乗せ、賑やかに練り歩く屋台・笠鉾。2日目の夜には提灯を灯し、小鹿神社に並びます。

A grand Ogano Shrine festival where four gorgeous yatai and kasaboko floats are pulled around the town’s streets. Rare kabuki performances given on two yatai floats with stages and runways can be seen late in the afternoon on the first day. The performance that is offered is called Ogano Kabuki, and has been passed down in this area for over 200 years. It is a deeply rooted local traditional performing art where both adult and children actors, narrators who play the shamisen, and even stagehands are residents of Ogano Town. The performances given on floats with lavish decorations such as carvings of dragons create a surreal sight.
See the lively procession of yatai and kasaboko floats as they march down the streets to the sound of the jingling iron staffs and festive Chichibu music. On the second night, lanterns are lit up as they gather to line up at Ogano Shrine.
