時に優雅に、時に荒々しく舞い踊る！時を超え、霊峰に受け継がれる伝統神楽
Dancing elegantly at times and wildly at other times!Timeless and traditional Kagura performances passed down on a sacred mountain.

早池峰山を霊場とする修験山伏たちによって、500年以上も受け継がれてきた「早池峰神楽」。早池峰神社の奉納神楽「岳神楽」と、大償神社の奉納神楽「大償神楽」の2つの神楽座の総称です。式舞から始まり、古事記などを題材とした神舞、女性が主役となる女舞、激しい体さばきが楽しめる荒舞、武士が登場する番楽舞、面白おかしい狂言、締めくくりの権現舞と、さまざまな演目に魅せられます。1月2日には大償神楽、3日には岳神楽の舞初めが行われます。
両神楽の見比べも楽しさの一つ。岳神楽は五拍子を基調とし速く勇壮、大償神楽は七拍子を基調とし緩やかで優雅です。

1月2日：神楽の館（東北道「花巻IC」より車で約30分）
1月3日：早池峰神社（東北道「花巻IC」より車で約50分）

Hayachine Kagura performances have been passed down for over 500 years by Shugen monks who see Mount Hayachine as their sacred site. It is a collective term that refers to the Take Kagura dedicated to Hayachine Shrine and the Otsugunai Kagura dedicated to Otsugunai Shrine by two Kagura performance troupes. Be amazed at the various performances that start with a ceremonial dance, a sacred dance themed on the Records of Ancient Matters, a dance performed by women, a dance performed with vigorous movements, a dance where samurai warriors appear, a jocular performance, and end with one final performance. The festivities start with the Otsugunai Kagura on 1st and the Take Kagura on the 3rd of January.

One of the features is being able to see two Kagura performances.
Take Kagura is in quintuple time and is fast and lively, while Otsugunai Kagura is in septuple time and is slow and elegant.
January 2: House of kagura (about 30 min. by car from the Hanamaki IC on the Tohoku Expressway)
January 3: Hayachine Shrine (about 50 min. by car from the Hanamaki IC on the Tohoku Expressway)
